Face prep
Primer: For this look you want your skin to look as flawless as possible (I used Benefit’s Porefessional). Use a pea sized amount and start in your t-zone then smooth over the rest of your face. Let it set up for about two minutes before moving to foundation.
Foundation: For this look use a medium to full coverage base. I used Lancome’s Teint Miracle in Ivory 4 with neutral undertones. I’ll talk about determining your skin’s undertones in an upcoming post. Apply with a damp beauty blender by quickly pressing the foundation into your skin using a bouncing motion. Remember to blend onto your neck!
Concealer: Use a brightening concealer, such as Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind and apply everywhere you would normally highlight (see highlights in this photo if you’re unsure). Quickly blend this out with a damp beauty blender.
Powder: Set the areas you applied concealer with a translucent powder, or a powder that’s two shades lighter than your foundation shade. Press the powder into your skin, don’t drag it. Next, set the rest of your face with a powder that matches your foundation shade in the same pressing manner.
Color
For color I used Smashbox’s Master Class Palette III — Color & Contour, which will be the colors I refer to below.
Contour & Highlight: Use the contour powder to contour your face. If you’re unsure where to place the contour, check out this photo again. Next, take the blush in Flush and place it directly above the contour on your cheeks, and blend blush and contour until it looks natural. Lastly, use the highlighting powder in the areas you previously highlighted with concealer.
Eyes: Start with eye shadow primer (my go-to is Urban Decay’s Primer Potion). Apply the Vanilla eye shadow (or a matte cream color) under your brow bone. In the crease use Nude (or a matte hazelnut color), and on the base of your lid use Sienna (or a shimmery cocoa color). Use Nude again and dust it directly onto your lower lash line, then blend out.
Eyeliner: Use a black liquid liner (I used L’Oreal’s Lineur Intense) and stay as close to the lash line as possible. Slightly thicken the line on the outer corner of your eyes, then create a small wing. If you’re not confident in your wing flicking abilities, try out some tape. It makes creating the perfect wing easy, but after peeling the tape off you may need to touch up a bit.
Brows: I used Anastasia’s DipBrow Pomade in Dark Brown. Start on the tail end of your brows and work your way in, with light strokes. Try to leave the inner part of your brows untouched so it doesn’t have that “boxed in” look. By keeping that part natural it makes the rest of the brows look more natural.
Mascara: Apply on the bottom lashes first, then the tops. Once dry, apply a second coat to the bottom lashes.
Lips: Use a lip liner to line your lips, and fill them in (I always use a clear lip liner). Apply your favorite red lipstick (I used Rimmel’s Moisture Renew in Red Alert).
That’s it! Remember, practice makes perfect. Once you get the hang of this look, you should only spend about 20-25 minutes tops to complete it, which isn’t too shabby in my opinion.

Question: Do you all like that I explain how to apply the makeup? If you like that I explain it, let me know, otherwise I’m going to list off the products I used without explanation in future posts. Also, if you have any looks you’d like to request, leave a comment!
